McLaren–Central Michigan provides on-site dialysis to admitted patients with chronic and acute kidney failure who require regular, life-critical dialysis treatments. This service makes it possible for local residents on dialysis to receive hospital care in Mt. Pleasant, rather than having to travel to a distant hospital.
Inpatient dialysis is also an important service for patients who have trouble clearing dye from their bodies, after a procedure in the Heart & Vascular lab, for example.
Partnering with DaVita
McLaren Central Michigan is partnering with DaVita, the largest independent U.S. source of kidney care services, to provide the dialysis care. Nephrologists Jose Fuente, MD, and Adeel Kahn, MD, oversee the services.
Patients receiving dialysis locally, at DaVita’s Mt. Pleasant center, can use McLaren–Central Michigan when they have health issues such as needing new shunts, grafts or fistulas — the surgically placed way to access the bloodstream.
