History
CMCH opened in 1943 with 60 patient beds and 25 members on the medical staff. At that time, women spent more than a week in the hospital after birthing a baby, and a simple tonsillectomy required a four-day inpatient stay. Volunteers at the Hospital canned vegetables for patient meals and mended sheets and drapes for patient rooms.
