| Community Benefits
Central Michigan Community Hospital is committed to providing care to all people, regardless of their ability to pay. This philosophy is fundamental to our mission as Isabella County's only community-owned and locally governed hospital.
Each year, our annual benefits to the community are tracked and reported to the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA). These benefits include medical service to the underserved, community health education and screenings, community outreach and leadership, and time and resources donated to health professional education.
The 2008 community benefit report shows CMCH provided more than $2.9 million in uncompensated care and services. The largest portion of this comes from what the hospital contributes in charity care and payment shortfalls from bad debt and Medicare.

Commitment to community health and well-being is one of CMCH's core values. By focusing on improving processes, reducing costs and achieving efficiencies, the hospital is able to maintain an adequate margin to reinvest in the healthcare services that people need, but all too often cannot afford on their own. This annual reporting of community benefits demonstrates CMCH's accountability to the residents of central Michigan. CMCH and its employees also host and participate in a variety of events and activities throughout the year.
