Employee CARE Program

At Central Michigan Community Hospital, we strive to provide care that exceeds patient expectations.  Every month, one CMCH employee is selected for going above and beyond for our patients.  The recipient receives a certificate of recognition, a monetary bonus, a reserved parking spot for a month, and recognition in the CMCH employee newsletter.

"CARE" (Customers Are Really Everything) Champions:

March Winner – Wayne Klumpp, Radiology
Wayne was nominated by the mother of a patient. In the nomination, she wrote:
“My son came in and had to have an x-ray done. He is two and a half, and was terrified. Wayne explained it in a way my son understood, and he did a wonderful job. My son now asks every time we go by CMCH if he can have his picture taken again. Thank you for making it a little bit easier for an already worried mom.”

February Winner – Micki Krenzke, MA, Dr. Vogel’s Office
Micki was nominated by Dr. Vogel. In the nomination, he wrote:
“We missed giving our surgical specimens to the lab tech and Micki Krenzke, my MA, took the initiative to take them to the lab. While she was at the hospital, a young couple was at the help desk and asked Micki where they could register. Micki escorted them to the ER. On her way back to her vehicle, an older gentleman was trying to figure out how to get to the 3rd floor, and she escorted the gentleman to the correct elevators.
This exemplary behavior should be recognized, or even better, emulated. Micki didn't know how to navigate the hospital, but took the time to help these individuals get the care they needed."

January Winner -
David Johns, PA-C, ReadyCare Walk-in Clinic
David was nominated by the daughter of a patient. In the nomination, she wrote:
“Mom went to ReadyCare because she thought she had the flu. David Johns, PA, was WONDERFUL to her. He ran some tests and determined she had strep throat. He called the next day with the rest of her lab results, and I told him Mom was admitted to CMCH. That was about 1:00 p.m. Ten minutes later, David was at the hospital visiting Mom. He stayed about half an hour discussing the results with us and showed a lot of concern for her ON HIS DAY OFF!”

December Winner - Lori Hackett, Laboratory
Lori was nominated by a fellow CMCH employee for her compassion during a stressful situation. In the nomination, the employee wrote:
"Lori stayed with a confused elderly inpatient who was extremely upset until a family member could get here. For some reason, the confused patient saw Lori as someone familiar that she could be comforted by until her family could get here."

November Winner -
Mark Klein, Patient Care Services (3 West/3 South)
Mark was nominated by a patient as follows:
"During my 15-day stay in CMCH, I was able to observe this young man go about his duties, first on 3-West and then on 3-South. I was more than impressed; it is no exaggeration to say I was awed. He is patient and helpful and thoughtful and friendly, and at the same time very efficient. I want to say he's a natural at what he does, and what I mean is that he does it so well he seems to be born to do it."

Jane HeckartOctober Winner -
Jane Heckart, RN, Family Birthing Center
Jane was nominated by a fellow CMCH employee for her sensitivity and compassion during a stressful situation. In the nomination, the employee wrote:
"Jane took care of an auto accident mom who lost her baby and her significant other was transferred to Butterworth Hospital (in Grand Rapids). Jane came back in, brought flowers, and a card for the mom."
